Grants Awarded

Grants Issued in Fiscal Year 2020

The Merrick Foundation's grant making programs give donors and organizations the opportunity to finance projects and programs which will enhance the quality of life for residents in Merrick County, Nebraska.  The Grant Committee meets quarterly to review and recommend funding allocations to qualified organizations.  Grant applications will be due January 2nd, April 1st, July 1st and October 1st.   Grant requests in excess of $10,000 will only be reviewed in July and October.  Click here to see grants issued in FY 2019.  Grants issued in the last fiscal year (11/1/2018 - 10/31/2019) include:

 


January 2020

  • American Legion Baseball

    A grant was awarded to help fund summer legion baseball programs in Central City.

  • Central City Boy Scouts

    The funds awarded from this grant go towards the Boy Scouts re-chartering fees which allows other fundraising efforts to go towards activities and camping fees.

  • Central City Cub Scouts

    The funds awarded from this grant go towards the Cub Scouts re-chartering fees which allows other fundraising efforts to go towards activities and camping fees.

  • Central City Public Library

    A grant was issued to help fund the Makerspace project at the Library. Makerspace areas are hubs for creativity and entrepreneurship!

  • Central City Youth Baseball

    A grant was issued to help with the costs of new batting helmets and catchers gear.

  • Merrymakers Association

    A grant was issued to help with the cost of providing interactive professional musical performances which can help brighten the lives of seniors in three nursing homes in Central City.

  • Midland Area Agency on Aging

    A grant was issued to help with lifeline services, which is a program for seniors across Merrick County. Lifeline services allow clients to summon help when they need it all while assuring families that someone is available to help 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

  • Nebraska Christian Schools

    The grant was awarded to help offset some of the costs associated with the 14th Festival of Lessons & Carols.

  • Nebraska Christian Schools

    This grant was awarded to 20 students to help with costs associated with taking a Senior class trip to Washington D.C., where they will visit numerous historic and government sites.

  • Palmer Child Care

    A grant was awarded to Palmer Child Care, which is the first ever free-standing daycare in the history of Palmer. The current capacity is 28 children, ages six weeks to four years of age.

  • Palmer High School

    This grant was awarded 31 students to help with costs associated with taking a Sophomore/Junior class trip to Washington D.C., where they will visit numerous historic and government sites.

  • Palmer Rescue Squad

    A grant was awarded to help pay for some of the costs associated with purchasing a generator for the fire barn in Palmer. It would be used to provide a warm area for anyone in the community who has lost power due to a disaster.

  • Red Cross Blood Mobile

    A grant was awarded to provide donors with a meal after their gift of time and blood at the Central City Blood Drive. It's a coordinated effort with other churches and groups that volunteer their time and space.

  • Silver Creek Township Library

    A grant was issued to assist with basement renovation costs, including ceiling, floor and wall repairs as well as new paint.


April 2020

  • Central City Children's Theater

    A grant was awarded to help with the cost to host the Missoula Children’s Theater for approximately 60 kids this summer.

  • Central City Stampede Softball

    A grant was awarded to assist with the purchase of a bullpen, batting tee, balls and a caddy.

  • Heartland United Way

    A grant was awarded to help fund the Dolly Parton Imagination Library Program for children in Merrick County.

  • Nebraska Christian Schools

    A grant was awarded to help fund the technology upgrades needed for the COVID-19 response.

  • Prairie Plains Resource Institute

    A grant was awarded to help provide partial 2020 Scholarships for the SOAR and Youth Naturalist Program for Merrick County students or Camp Gear (if no camps are held).

  • Special Olympics Nebraska

    A grant was awarded to provide support for the Nebraska State Equestrian Competition at the Merrick County Fairgrounds. This will be the fourth year held in Central City and brings in athletes from all over the state.


July 2020

  • Palmer Senior Center

    A grant was awarded to provide continued support for a program that allows seniors in Palmer to meet weekly for meals and fellowship.

  • Rose Hill Cemetery

    A grant was awarded to help with the gravel road improvements needed within the cemetery.

  • Archer Community Room

    A grant was awarded to the Archer Community Room to assist with costs associated with replacing the gutters, re-painting the building as well as purchasing a new community room sign.

  • Bison After School Program

    A grant was awarded to help offset the costs associated with building rental as well as assistant teachers at the Bison After School Program.

  • Merrick County Home Delivered Meals Project

    A grant was awarded to help provide funding for seniors in Clarks who are participating in the Home Delivered Meal Program.

  • Twin River Legion Baseball

    A grant was awarded to Twin River Legion Baseball for program support of the 2020 season.


October 2020

  • Merrick County Child Development Center

    A grant was issued to help with the costs associated with replacing and installing carpet throughout the center.

  • Silver Creek Cemetery Association

    A grant was issued to assist with the operating and maintenance costs associated with the Silver Creek Cemetery.

  • Silver Creek Rescue

    A grant was issued to cover half of the costs associated with purchasing a Lucas Chest Compression System for the ambulance.

  • State Theater Foundation

    A grant was issued to help with exterior building renovations.
